A sign of Growing up?

Recently, I noticed that Ah boy is quite good at his speech. Of coz he doesn’t speak or pronounce perfect Mandarin or English works. But he is able to form a complete sentence, and able to answer your questions.

Let me dig some past conversions with ah boy:
HB calling home from his workplace while I was playing FB on the computer at home. Had a minor disappointment wif HB, so I was not interested to talk to hb over the phone. So Mr Kapo aka Ah boy chat wif daddy over the phone (in Chinese- I lazy to type Chinese characters)

Dad: What’s mummy doing?
Ah Boy: Mummy is playing computer.

I was just beside ah boy & I stunned at him! I never told him that I was playing computer, and he can answer correctly to his dad. Even his dad is surprised at his answer!

Another scenario:
Hb called home again & ah boy quickly rushed to pick up the phone. So dad asked in Chinese again:

Dad: What’s mummy doing?
Ah Boy: Mummy is watching television.

Faint! Yes I was watching TV when the phone rang. And he has answered correctly again in complete sentence.

I know these are basic sentences, but I’m very happy that he has grown up. To be able to form complete sentence, answer correctly questions posed to him. Recently I only managed to make up what song he was trying to sing since mths ago: London bridge is falling down! He’s beginning to speak clearer words and thus we get to understand him better.

Ytd brought him to NTUC for grocery shopping. As usual, whatever item he spotted of edible to him, he will want. From bread to chocolate to yogurt to jelly to biscuits to yacukt! Of coz, I limit him to 1 item only as I wasn’t so rich to afford all these stuffs at 1 go. 1 of the ntuc staffs saw us and she praised ah boy for being an understandable kid: I was rejecting him when he point towards a packet of jellies. He didn’t insist on wanting the jellies after that, as the staff say most kids will cry n insists till they get their jellies purchased. I only can say i strictly allowed 1 item only. If jelly, then no yogurt. So ah boy prefer yogurt that nite. He love to go into that NTUC everytime we passed by the place. He will point towards tt direction n will grumble a bit if we skipped the NTUC. Haha.. too much sweetie stuffs for him.. & he’s gaining quite a bit of weight recently.

CUT HAIR

This is the 2nd time he sit by himself while cutting hair. Have to convince him days before his hair cut sessions as he need time to absorb the idea of cutting hair.. and also time for him to change his rejection to acceptance. As per previous visit, we need to use stickers & sweets to make him stop crying & sit properly for his hair cut session.
This cutting session is even more power. Coz his daddy is standing by his side, feeding him with yummy bears. As he chew on the sweets, he stopped crying & sit well-behaved on the chair.

As least one thing, we proud that he can sit alone for the hair cut. He has grown up!

ABC MUSIC & ME

After his shishida term has ended more than a week ago, ah boy was given another opportunity to participate in another enrichment class. Call me Kiasu Parent? Well i din purposely search ard for this enrichment class, as it was offered by the child care out of the blue.

This enrichment class is called ABC Music & Me. It is a special program organised by Kindermusik. I heard of this school before.. even considered sending ah boy to this school before he successfully enrol into Shishida. And for this program.. i don nid to personally accompany him. It is held during his school hours, either 4-5pm or 5-6pm slot. Fee is $80+GST per mth. So it costs ard $0.48 per min. Haha.. definitely cheaper by 50% & save on my tpt cost & time.

Another reason why I willing to let him take up this class is because I can feel his love & passion for music. I'm not a music person.. i cant sing nor play music. However, i notice that Ah boy brightens up when he hear music. Maybe my TAI-JIAO is good ar? haha.. He likes to sing nursery rhymes before he go to bed at nite. He love to watch DVDs that play all kinds of nursery rhymes (almost everyday). He sang & moved to the music when attending his shishida class with me. Even his teachers in school also comment on his high interest in music. So now there's an opportunity for him to learn more music.. i shouldn't stop him if it's within my means?

The 1st lesson commerce yesterday between 5 - 5.45pm. He brought a set of home materials & a music instrument home. As hb picked him up from school, hb commented that once ah boy reached home, he played his animals songs (a toy) & another hand grab another music instrument (sort of a drum). He beat & hummed to the rhymes of the music. When he came home, he also hum some music & I noticed his both hands are moving, like holding onto some musical instruments. Recalling back to my times when i attend such a kind of enrichment classes (drawings or dancing), i don remember myself being so hardworking as in practising what i learnt when I reach home immediately.

Ah boy must have loved this music class alot! Wish my future MUSICIAN son a success! Hope 1 day u can be a famous song composer like Dick Lee or Lee Wee Song Brothers? Or famous singer like Stephanie Sun or JJ Lin or Jay Chou or Micheal Jackson (King of POP)!
(ok... back to my dreamland!)

High Tolerance? Easy Going? Forgiving Nature?

I wonder how should I praise Ah boy? Or rather how should I teach him?

For the 2nd day in a row, he was bitten by Kai Xian AGAIN!!! This time on his right hand. Not only am I angry, his dad & ah ma are also angry at the behavior of Kai Xian. His teacher has mentioned that she will separate the 2 boys, to prevent such incident from happening the 3rd time. Keeping my fingers crossed that it has ended.

Upon hearing the 2nd time he got bitten, I felt the urge to teach Ah boy to bite back Kai Xian. I know that this behavior is not correct.. but I cant stand the thought that my boy is bitten for nothing for 2 times. Everyone fights and snatch toys in the school, but Kai Xian doesn’t have to resort to biting to get the toys. End up after thinking for quite some time, I ask ah boy to avoid Kai Xian & if he bite again, push him away.

However, this morning when Ah boy go school, after he washed his hand, he sat right NEXT to Kai Xian again. Hai~! I understand the other teachers are not aware of the incident, but I highlight again to Ah boy’s Chinese teacher who came back only today. Think I heard the teacher questioning Kai Xian when I left the centre. As for Ah boy, he has no hard-feeling about the biting issue. He still feel okay to sit next to Kai Xian, play wif Kai Xian. I don’t see any hatred in him. Is it because he still don understand the situation? Or he is very easy going? Or he’s very forgetful (abt the biting issues)? Forgiving? Or he can tolerate more bitings from Kai Xian? Hai..

It’s pain me to see him get hurt…
