Childcare review
Last Saturday I had a 1-to-1 review with Ah boy’s teachers at the childcare for his 1st semester. Some sort like the parents meeting in schools. As usual.. ah boy dislike going to school on a Saturday. Wanted to ‘dump’ him with his classmates.. but he refused & got so excited that he bit on my left & right shoulder! 2 bite marks.. but heal very fast.
His teachers have good & bad comments for ah boy. As he’s the biggest in the toddler class, in terms of date of birth, he’s a good learner in everything. Teachers showed me some pictures of him in class & his artworks. He is able to participate well in class & follow teachers’ instructions. One of the activities required him to crumble paper & throw into a basket a few distance away from him. He is so determined that only on the 3rd trial, he succeeded in throwing into the basket, then he’s satisfied and walk away.
Ah boy is very picky in his food, and he will selectively picked up those food he don eat, eg vegetables & fish, push them aside on the plate, and eat the rest of the food. Teachers reminded them not to use hand to eat the food, so Ah boy trying to be smart. He used his hands to pick up the last few bits of rice & put onto his spoon, then put the spoon into his mouth. I was told he loved to jump & run in class, which results in his classmates imitating him. As his classmates are younger, with some just learn to walk. So jumping & running may cause them to fall down easily. So the teachers always repeatedly ask Ah boy not to jump & run about in class.
Teachers commented ah boy is a good boy at sharing. When playing toys, if his classmates snatched toys away from him, he will hold back a while & then release to the other classmates. He hardly snatch other classmates’ toys. Which is consider a plus point until….
Yesterday, 29 Jun 2009!!!
Ah boy was playing toys wif his classmate, kai xian (teacher say ah boy is pretty close to this boy). Kai Xian then snatched the toy from Ah boy. Of coz both boys refused to give up.. and hold onto the toy. Kai xian then attacked ah boy by biting onto ah boy’s left shoulder! Poor ah boy cried out loud.. Kai xian also got scolded by the teacher and he cried too. Poor Ah boy.. he still have the red bite marks on the shoulder this morning. MIL checked his shirt & it was not torn. But I believed the bite is quite tough and pain on ah boy, for him to leave such a red mark for so long. I try to educate ah boy by telling him that biting each other is wrong. Share toys with others, as there are plenty of toys in the childcare. Hopefully he will learn from this lesson.

An ill Girl who need lots of support..
Rec'd an email from a past BP supplier, stating that partial of the sales will go towards the donations to Charmine, a 3yrs+ girl who is fighting against cancer. I almost in tears when i finish reading 1st page of her blog. Still thinking how much to donate to her. Although i believe i'm not so rich to fully pay for her medical fees.. but i hope my small portion will give her moral support, give her the strength & encouragment to stay strong & fight against the virus as we, the public are giving her financial aid.

PRIORITY SEATS vs RESERVED SEATS
Have u ever noticed recently that some of our MRT trains have changed their special seats label? From Priority to Reserved! And do you ever notice any changes or impact it has created??? NOTHING at ALL!
What does a “Reserved” Tissue at a CBD hawker centre mean to u? I would say majority of the usual lunch crowd will not purposely sit on these reserved chairs & tables. At a restaurant with tables having the “Reserved” signs, any walk-in customers will not consider sitting onto these tables unless they really have made a reservation with the restaurants beforehand.
How about in the trains? The word “Reserved” would make a totally 100% twist. Who cares or bother about the word “Reserved”, even though in their mind that there are aware that these seats are meant for the aged, pregnant, special needs people. Will they leave the seats empty for these special needs people? Just like the way they leave seats with reserved tissues or signs on tables? NO WAY right? They just sit onto it. And if they are down in luck as any special needs people has board the train, then they stand up and give way to them. Some of them after sitting down, has so heavy butt that they can’t stand up anymore till they reach their destinations.
I simply don’t understand why they can’t treat all RESERVED seats the same way? A lot of the developed countries have special needs seats in their public transport. These countrymen are able to develop the self-inbuilt discipline, by avoiding & totally NOT sitting onto these reserved seats unless they fit into that category. Why us, the Singaporeans who seem to be knowledgeable & yet refused to learn these nice courtesy behavior?
Notice the 3 or 4 signs on the reserved/priority seats? Aged, Pregnant, Carry Kids & maybe the handicapped. I noticed that if you fulfilled 2/3 or 2/4 of the criteria, chances of you getting the special seats is 80%. If u fulfilled 1 of the criteria, chances of getting the seat are 50-50 bah. Pretty sad hor? When can it be increased to 100%? I understand that there are lot of special needs people ard.. and sometimes, more than 1 special need people board the train at the same time. But my comparison above is when the seats are occupied by a non-special needs person.
When will everyone changes for the better???

A Mth of Updatez!
Oh No.. I juz realised I din update blogs for almost a mth. Too much work on hand, plus too stressful at home. Hai~ Now then can breathe a bit wif some updatez!
HFMD – 12/5/09
This is an unfortunate case. Ah boy suddenly had fever & the childcare called us to pick him up as they worry it’s a case of HFMD. His CC has been spreading HFMD virus ard.. so tt y teachers panic when the kids are running fever. MIL had to pick ah boy up after her market trip.
13/5/09
Thought ah boy has recovered, so sent him to CC while I go for my detailed check-up wif hb. Half way waiting for my turn, teacher called me again to say Ah boy is running fever. MIL has went on a overseas holidays. So we had to rush back to his CC to pick him. As he was in the midst of recovering fr his usual cough & flu virus, so we thought the fever was nothing much.
14/5/09
Worry tt I be called up again for ah boy’s fever, so thought of taking Childcare Leave n stayed home wif ah boy. Although he has no fever, but I thought of bringing him to see doctor to get some more cough & flu medicine since he finished his previous medic. Den at the doctor, I casually mentioned tt his school mates are down wif HFMD, so doc examine his mouth n spotted 1 ulcer. Straight away, he accused ah boy of having HFMD! Wat the heck! He has no fever for the whole day yet, only 1 mouth ulcer, no red spots on his hand & foot! The idiot doctor din even bother to examine his hand & foot and anyhow come up wif a conclusion based on past 2 day of slight fever, classmate’s case of HFMD & 1 mouth ulcer. Juz like that, he stopped ah boy from school, report the case to school & MOH!
I’m not trying to be an irresponsible parent, but ah boy is totally well! He ate as usual, eating almost every hour, drinking every sweet drinks he can find! The mouth ulcer has no impact on his appetite. So the nxt few days, I brought him out as usual. To my parent’s hse so I can go work on Friday. Sunday, I brought him to his shishida class. Coz no fever outbreak since the day he visited that stupid doctor. Mouth ulcer has cleared. Mon, hb took care of him as he’s on leave. Tue I took leave again. And I brought him back to the same clinic, but different doctor. This time round, the doctor immediately clear him of the so-called HFMD virus. I complaint abt the previous visit, but this doc say he cant comment much as he wasn’t the doctor for the last visit. Immediately after the doc visit, Childcare called & told me of another kid down wif HFMD. Hai~ wonder y the kids luv to spread the virus ard.
Anyway, I learnt my lesson. 1stly, avoid this stupid clinic for their lousy doctor! 2ndly, don extra tell the doctors abt his classmates having HFMD.
Since he took a wk of break, he has grown stronger now. He haven’t been sick since he returned to school, which is a great thing!
Hair Cut
I learnt something from the shishida class – Stickers! I really understand how does rewards means so much to kids, even though they don’t really understand much. Ah boy has always fear cutting his hair. So everytime we passed by the hair salon, he will pull us away in fear. Everytime we mentioned abt cutting his hair, he shake his head repeatedly. Until 1 day, I told him, if he cut his hair, I will give him STICKER. Den he agreed to his hair cut.
So the big day came when we finally brought him to the hair salon. Hb had his hair cut 1st, so he can carried ah boy later during his hair cut. Ah boy waited patiently for his turn to arrive. This time round, he willing to sit on the chair by himself, wif the big cloth around his neck. In the past, the cloth is normally wrapped ard us, so we don kena the fallen hair bit. When the shaver cut 1 round of his hair, he sat there calmly.. till the hair drop onto his face when he begin to cry. Still he hold on to his seat. Struggling abit, but is doing great and is able to finish his hair cut. He was rewarded wif sweet from the hair salon, plus a sticker from me. And he stopped crying the min his hair is cut finish & hair bit removed from his face n neck. I’m so proud of him. It shown he has grown up & over-come his fear of hair cut.
In 3 wks time, will be bringing him to a chalet. Hope he behaves and enjoys himself.
